Chroma
Embedded vector database designed to be added to a Python application in minutes.
Overview
Chroma is a vector database that runs inside your process by default, so there is no server to deploy before you can store an embedding. It solves the friction at the start of a project, where the choice of vector store should not be the first thing you have to decide. It exists because prototyping speed matters, and its embedded design means the same code can later point at a hosted deployment when the data outgrows one machine.
