Context Engineering
Deciding what goes into the context window, not just how it is worded.
Overview
Context engineering is the practice of selecting and arranging everything in a model's window - instructions, retrieved passages, examples, tool results, history - rather than only phrasing a request. It solves the problem that a capable model given the wrong material produces a wrong answer regardless of wording. It exists as the discipline that prompt engineering turned out to be a subset of.
